International Woman's Day Video

Over the last few weeks I have been involved in planning and directing a video of the International Woman's Day celebration in Manchester.  Here is the result:

Directed and Produced by Nathan Rae
Original Music by Michele Harris: http://audio-boutique.co.uk
Choreography by Naomi Sumners: http://www.alltheskills.co.uk

This video had two goals.  Firstly to be a fun activity for all the participants and in this respect it was a major success!  Comments like "It was one of the highlights of the day!" and "We had so much fun!" came thick and fast as everyone involved really enjoyed it.

Secondly it was to be a "viral" video to raise the profile of International Woman's Day.  There were a couple of problems with the filming as a quite a few people had already left the event so the Monastery wasn't as full as it should have been.  Also, some women joined in for the filming without learning the dance (not their fault and they enjoyed themselves as well) but I didn't notice this at the time.  And lastly we only filmed it twice when I think we would have got it much better on the third take.  But over all I'm very happy with the resulting video as we only had one hour to learn the dance, rehearse and shoot which is really not long enough.

And about it going viral?  We'll just have to see.

Next week I'll be releasing a short "Making Of" video as I also filmed the rehearsals.

Three Big Events

Over the next few weeks I’m going to be:

… at the Glasgow Film Festival.

My documentary Lift is being show on Sunday 21st February 4.30pm as part of the Leave A Trail competition.

I think that if I win here I actually get a cash prize, which would be nice.  I’ll be tweeting alot this weekend so keep an eye on my twitter feed for the latest updates, views and comments on all I get up to.

… at the Film Insiders Talent Festival, Barrow-In-Furness.

On Friday 5th March I am going to be doing a Q and A session with Matt Lloyd about why and how I made Lift and why it has been successful.  Lift will also be screened as part of the “Best Of Glasgow” event.

This looks like it will be a great few days of film making workshops, master classes, networking and parties! If you are a filmmaker in the North West you should really check it out. I’m really looking forward to it.

… at the International Woman’s Day, Gorton Monastery, Manchester.

I’m going to be filming a “Viral Video” with a Monestry full of 500 Women. Naomi Sumner from All The Skills will be teaching them a dance which we will then film a couple of times in an interest way.  Hopefully it will capture the imagination of enough people to spread around a bit.  More details coming soon.

For now though, if you are a woman, check out the website and consider coming along for some pampering, networking, thought provoking, self developing and enjoyable activities in an amazing venue.
